​Good Day IVS Families!

We ready for a great start to the year and look forward to welcoming all our returning and new students on Tuesday, September 6^th.  We will remind new Kindergarten families to send their child on the assigned 1^st day (either September 6^th or 7^th and all will come on the 8^th).  Also, we want to remind families that the safe and easiest way to get our students to and from school is on a school bus starting on the first day of school.

·        Note to K Families – students and families will go to the Library on their first day of school to avoid any congestion and make for a less intimidating first morning at school.  Our K teachers will meet you in the library at 8:05 to collect the children and say goodbyes.

In the event of rain, we will collect the grade 1 – 5 students in the gym and distribute to class from there at 8:05am.

Attendance Matters – ASD-S continues to promote this campaign launched last year sharing the importance of regular school attendance and arriving on school on time. The District has created posters you will see around the school, an online brochure and video for parents.  Please follow the link below to access the brochure and view the video.

IVS has a strong record with attendance and working together we know we can continue to make improvements in this area and ensure students are arriving at school on time and ready to learn!  These important lifelong habits are formed in elementary school so let’s go off on the right foot!

Family Information Package – Next week a large package of information will be sent home with your child.  Please take the time to read the information and most importantly read, sign and return the essential forms.  These include:

·        Student Information Sheet

·        Allergy Awareness Letter – ***NUT FREE SCHOOL***

·        Right to Privacy and Information Release Form

·        Policy 311- Use of Computers (must be completed to use school computers)

·        Early Dismissal Procedure (in the event of an early closure).

Bussing – parent can verify their child’s bussing information on the district website under “Bussing”: http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-S/transportation/Pages/default.aspx

·        Please note that Bus 386 will not be doing a dismissal run this year.  These students will mostly all now take Bus 498.
